Racing safely with Bosch Motorsport CAS-M3 EVO

Bosch Motorsport have always been one of the most advanced suppliers in motorsport, pushing the boundaries of technology, whilst always offering quality solutions - hence why we use their products on all of our builds. With the Bathurst 12 hour taking place this coming weekend, it seems like the perfect time to highlight the Bosch Motorsport CASM-3 EVO, a safety system that allows the drivers to keep their concentration on the track ahead whilst they battle it out on "the mountain".

CAS-M3 is Bosch Motorsport's high performance collision avoidance system, which combines a radar sensor and a high-definition camera to detect up to 40 surrounding vehicles. It provides a real time visualization of any vehicles overtaking or approaching from behind, and warns the driver about this by marking the four relevant approaching cars on the display. 

Each object is defined with a unique position and delta speed, allowing the CASM-3 EVO calculate the real time gap and time to overtake values. It can then highlight to the driver quickly and clearly the faster approaching cars, and how much of a threat they are on your position.

Without the driver having to look away from the track ahead, the can have a glance at the onboard display to see what is happening behind - lowering the potential fatigue the driver faces on those long stints.

On the display, it shows clear markers from each tracked object, which have a defined colour and size which show the delta speed and distance from your car. The wide angled, high resolution camera steam shows a live display of the situation behind, with overlaid radar information.

During braking and through the corner, any faster vehicles approaching from behind that force themselves onto the faster line, will display and show the driver which side they will be overtaking from, even displaying a large alert at time of overtake, assisting with avoiding any collision in a multi class race.

When it comes to heavy rain, with high spray or night time with limited visibility is where CASM-3 comes into its own, as the conditions make it that much more difficult for the driver, using the advanced radar technology it is a great aid to help prevent accidents on the track.

The CASM-3 EVO is the most advanced collision avoidance system available for your race car, supporting the drivers to safely complete their stints - to finish first, first you have to finish.
